Reynolds recently commissioned an innovative print-and-apply labelling solution for a leading New Zealand timber processor in the Bay of Plenty.
The challenge was to apply large-format shipping labels to wrapped framing timber packs, but also onto unwrapped and sometimes wet timber packs which provide poor surface adhesion for the label. The solution was to also put a staple through the applied label into the timber.
Starting with a robust Novexx ALX industrial label printer-applicator, Reynolds custom designed and built a solution with an integrated pneumatic stapler head. After printing and then tamping the label onto the pack, a high-powered staple gun extends and staples the label to the packs, ensuring it stays put even if the label has been applied to bare wet timber.
