Ensure your products are supply-chain ready with GS1 GTIN barcodes
GTIN barcodes (Global Trade Item Numbers), such as EAN-13, UPC-A, and GTIN-14, are essential for uniquely identifying products and cartons in retail, e-commerce, and export markets.
Reynolds helps New Zealand manufacturers generate, print, and verify GS1-compliant GTIN barcodes to ensure your products scan correctly from production to POS.
What are GTIN barcodes?
GTINs are standardised numeric codes assigned by GS1, used universally for product identification.
Common GTIN formats include:
- GTIN-13 - the most common GTIN for retail products and used to identify individual items at retail point of sale. Also used for trade units sold directly to consumers, e.g. case of wine. Encoded within the EAN-13 barcode
- GTIN-14 - for non-retail units e.g. cartons. Often encoded in ITF-14 format for the outer shipping cartons or case of your retail products
- GTIN-12 - for products exported for sale to United States and Canada
- GTIN-8 - for products that are too small for a GTIN-13
- GTIN-128 - for use when you’re encoding the GTIN along with additional information, such as use-by dates and batch numbers
