Drop-on-Demand inkjet (DOD) delivers reliable, versatile coding at a low cost. Perfect for cartons, timber and other secondary packaging, DOD offers a reliable, cost-effective way to print barcodes, batch codes, and branding — with minimal ink usage and mess-free operation.
Built for the toughest of environments, while also sitting very comfortably in clean rooms, DOD printers have a larger print than Continuous Inkjet printers.
Our range of durable, industrial-grade DOD inkjet printers are built for large character coding. These versatile systems support a wide variety of inks and can mark directly onto materials like timber, cardboard, and other secondary packaging. Example applications include a small date of 7mm on the bottom of a can, a large logo of 70mm on planks of wood, and printing product details on the side of cartons.
Each printhead contains multiple independently controlled valves (typically 7, 16 or 32) arranged in a column. As products pass by the printhead, the valves open and close to release ink drops on demand, forming characters, barcodes or marks with precision and minimal waste.
Our DOD printers use micro-plunger valves to create higher print speeds of up to 4 m/s. These are the smallest and highest resolution DOD inkjet printing machines on the market.
DOD printers have a lower upfront cost and use fewer consumables than other inkjet systems – ideal for cost-conscious operations.
Compatible with a wide range of inks and substrates, DOD printers can mark at heights from 2.5 mm to 128 mm+. Best suited for logistics or industrial use, but the lower printing resolution means they are less suitable for retail packaging.
